Sommet Center

A trip to the multi-purpose Sommet Center forms an important part of any Nashville tn travel plan. The Sommet Center as it is currently recognized was known by other monikers in the past. The Sommet Center was opened in the year 1996 and from the year 1996 to the year 1997 it was known as the Nashville Arena.

From the year 1999 to the year 2007 the centre was known as the Gaylord Entertainment Center. Located at the address 501 Broadway, Nashville, Tennessee 37203, the Sommet Center was constructed at a cost of $144 million. The structure is currently owned by the Sports Authority of Nashville and Davidson County.

The Sommet Center is administered by the Powers Management Company which is a subsidiary faction of the Nashville Predators. Since the year 1998 to the present day the Sommet Center has been home to the Nashville Predators. From the year 1997 to 2001 and from 2005 to 2007 it hosted the Nashville Kats as well.

Nashville travel is not complete without a visit to this multi purpose facility. The Sommet Center can house 17,113 people during ice hockey matches and around 10, 000 people for half house concerts.

In the case of end-stage events and concerts, 18500 people can be seated while as many as 20,000 audience members can be collected during concerts involving center-stage arrangements. Basketball matches can host audiences with 20,000 spectators.

The arena at the Sommet Center is often used for hosting Broadway shows, family events and theater performances as well as concerts. At such times the northern side of the space is used to hold a stage and by using curtains to section off the upper deck, a Music City Theater capable of holding 5,145 people is created.
