Originally the Opry Mills mall was owned by the Gaylord Entertainment corporation and the Mills Corporation but the ownership has now shifted hands to the Simon Property Group. The Opry Mills mall was built in the year 1999 on the land which was previously used for the Opryland USA theme park. After the theme park was shut down the Opry Mills mall was put up in its place and has ever since served the residents of the region as well as tourists and visitors.
