Tennessee Aquarium
The Tennessee Aquarium is not just the center piece of the scenic city of Chattanooga but has also made significant contributions in the revitalization effort to get the tourists coming back after two decades of silent and perhaps painful transformation during intervals. 1992 saw the Aquarium opening its doors to the public and the local business supported the effort in a large measure.
And, then the visitors did start arriving initially in trickles and as the word spread and years rolled by, they started arriving in hordes taking the annual numbers to over a million. Suddenly, Ross’s landing became the happening place and more and more businesses - as many as 100 of them infact became the neighbors of the Aquarium. Even some of Chattanooga’s attracted located themselves closer to the aquarium to derive the benefit of sharing the visitors arriving on Chattanooga TN travel.

Ocean Journey and River Journey are the two themes offered by the Aquarium to her visitors. The Aquarium holds over 12,000 species of living animals and between the two complexes the water itself is a million gallons. Visitors simply park near the aquarium building and walk it down to the aquarium building. In front of the building, as though to provide the young ones with an entree, there is a play area that combines water and concrete.
Visitors have the option of starting with the River journey or the Ocean Journey but the ideal way to appreciate the aquarium is to start with the River journey. River Journey will take visitors on a theme involving a drop of water traveling all the way from Appalachian Mountains through a 1500 mile trek on to the Gulf of Mexico. As you go through the journey, you also get to enjoy the aquatic life around as well as the flora and fauna of the environment.
In the adjacent building you will be taken through the Ocean Journey. The major attractions here include the Seahorses Beyond Imagination, bottomlit jelly fish, the giant octopus and other aquatic population. As a fitting finale to the ocean journey, the butterfly gallery brings all the colors from around the world as also a demonstration of how you can build a butterfly habitat in your own backyard. Look for the Aquarium tickets in combination with the IMAX when considering Chattanooga travel packages.
