Raccoon Mountain Caverns

The Raccoon Mountain Caverns lie just on the outskirts of Chattanooga, Tennessee and provides spectacular views of the Raccoon Mountain as well as the Lookout Mountains. Visitors on Chattanooga Tennessee travel have the opportunity of relaxing by camp fire, taking a go-kart ride, tour the cave system, or pan the area for gemstones.

The cave system at the Raccoon Mountain Caverns is incredibly diverse and wholly natural and ranks among the most beautiful caves you can ever get to see. Barring Christmas and Thanksgiving Day, the Cave is open throughout the year.

The Crystal Palace Tour at the Caverns will take you through a 45 minute tour of the cave. You can also choose from other wild cave expeditions offered by the Caverns. Inside the cave excellent climate control is provided by none other than Mother Nature herself and is nearly constant around the 60 degree mark.

For camping enthusiasts the Raccoon Mountain RV Park and Campground provides a wide range of facilities including 4 ‘camping cabins’. The facilities are clean, proximate to Downtown, and offers absorbing views of the mountains. The go-Kart track is at the far edge of the Caverns but within walking distance from both the facilities. This is also the newest go-kart track in Chattanooga. Go-kart enthusiasts have the option of choosing single or twin seat equipment. Drivers are however required to be a minimum of 54″ tall, though shorter individuals can ride as passengers in twin seat karts. These facilities are bound to enhance your vacation experience when you travel Chattanooga.
