Parks and Recreation

The Gatlinburg, Tennessee travel is often more enjoyable in the spring season between the months of May and September when all the parks and the mountains are covered with lush green greeneries. It is obvious with a large flow of tourists into the town.

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park stretches about 70 miles with a wide variety of places starting from the Sugarlands visitor centre, Newfound Gap road, Cling man’s Dome, Cades Cove Loop, Roaring Fork motor trailing loop etc. there are a wide variety of flora and fauna spread across the park. Gatlinburg travel is incomplete without a visit to the national park.

The parks in the Gatlinburg are under the maintenance of the Recreation department. The aim of this department is to provide recreation to its dwellers and the visitors. Three city parks, a community centre, trout fishing in country waters, landscaping of the entire city owned properties are maintained by them.

All the three city parks have covered pavilions which can be used under reservation. For prior reservation you can contact Gatlinburg recreation department through phone at (865)436-4990.

The Herbert Holt Park is one of the city parks providing covered pavilion, cooking grills, handicap accessible fishing piers, horse shoe pits, walking trails, sinks, children’s stream, playground area, trout facility and rest rooms. It is located on the Pigeon River Road in Gatlinburg. Fee structure is for 0-4hrs-$35 and >4hrs-$45.

The Mynatt Park is located on Asbury road. It offers children’s stream, grill, picnic tables, walking trails, horseshoe pits, baseball fields, basketball court, tennis courts and rest rooms.

The Mills park is located on Mills Park road. It offers all the facilities of the other two city parks along with a football ground, 400m track, 9 hole disc golf course, softball field and jogging trails.

The fee structure is the same for both Mynatts and Mills- 0-4 hrs-$25 and >4 hrs $35.
