Pigeon Forge travel would tell you the history of this magnificent city that dates back to the 19th century. The city gets its name from the iron forge that was built near the Littel Pigeon River. The forge was built by Isaac love around 1820. The city thus came to be known as Pigeon Forge.

It was in the fag end of the 1700s people from Carolinas came through the Smoky Mountains to what is now known as Pigeon Forge. Isaac Love’s son, William built a tub mill near the forge in 1830. The mill is now declared as a National historic site and is still functional.
The place had a large farming community. The city was incorporated in 1961 and there has been no looking back since then. Tourists took notice of this little city and the boom hit in 1982. The place has rapidly grown since then and is considered to be one of the most sought after vacation spots in Southeast United States.

The surrounding area of the city was once used only as hunting grounds by the tribes. It was due to the treaty that was signed at the end of 1700 that it made the place open for settlement. In 1907 there were merely 154 persons residing in Pigeon Forge. The census in June, 1997 showed that there were 3975 people.

Now the place is a chosen one for family vacations. It is hugely popular as a shopping destination too. There are over 200 factory outlets along with specialty stores that make it a big attraction. When you travel Pigeon Forge Tennessee you would realise that the city has grown manifold.
