Coolidge Park

Chattanooga boasts of an amazing assortment of parks for its people as well as the visitors. The Coolidge Park is among the newest in the family of parks for Chattanooga. A major attraction that the park features is the hand carved carousel which is over a hundred years old. On hot summer days, children can enjoy the massive fountain featuring stone horses, sea turtles and lions that spray water on the kids to cool them down. The common area along the river front is large enough to allow for picnics, games and even simple relaxation in the afternoons.

A pavilion and two stages at the park can be rented for special events like birthday parties, weddings or other social events when you plan to hold one when you travel in Chattanooga.

The subtle manner, in which Chattanooga has accomplished the task of bringing back the old glory of the century old carousel, has drawn great appreciation from the people of Chattanooga as well as the regular stream of visitors from other cities. The carving techniques of 1895 have been skillfully blended with the digital technology of the 21st century. Capping it all is the inscription “Dedicated to Children of All Ages” which can be found at the bottom of the Stinson organ on the carousel.

The Coolidge Park is also a sought-after venue for special events, festivals, concerts and movies in the park. The park is open for your enjoyment from 9.00 am to 8.00 pm Mondays through Saturdays and on Sundays the schedule is 1.00 to 6.30pm.

The park has put in place a few rules so that all visitors can enjoy unhindered, these pristine surroundings and all that the park holds. Pets, water guns, water balloons, skates, scooters, skateboards, bicycles and other toys are not allowed inside the park. Children shall never be left unattended and use of footwear is recommended.
