The Chattanooga Theater center has a long history dating back to 1923. The center is also the busiest, largest and oldest among community theaters in America. Every year, the theater releases over 15 productions which are seen by an estimated 50,000 people or more. The product facility comprises of 40,000 square foot space and the brand new facility was built at a cost of 8.5 million dollars. The 7 show mainstage Season is the flagship program of the theater featuring a wide range of offerings capable of satisfying the tastes of majority of theater lovers. The Circle series of the theater involves 4 productions every year and is considered more adventurous in character. The monthly studio series is devoted to community driven events connected with the theater and helps the community to indulge and explore the different facets of theater activity.

To encourage local talent and impart necessary training to the upcoming artists and support personnel, the center conducts various classes, summer camps, and workshops involving interested entrants from all age profiles. The fee for the 8 week course is kept at a low of $35 and the needy also receive scholarships.

Even music directors, directors, musicians and choreographers get professional opportunities at the theater. The local directors also receive paid opportunities at the Mainstage, Youth Theater and Circle Series.
