Nashville History

Nashville was an unknown village filled with Native Americans in 17-18th century. European traders found out that the place has potential for fine fur trade and trapping. They settled here and placed their offices on mounds. They named the place 'Nashborough' - a riverside town that looked like an ornate group of dwellings.

First 43 years of the 19th century found Federal Govt. getting interested in Nashborough. Even when the governor tried to call it a separate state, Abraham Lincoln sent his Military main man - Andrew Jackson and the rest is history. After a strenuous civil war, Nashborough came up with schools, theaters, and hospitals and became a major force of Tennessee. It won the election by a solitary vote from Charlotte and became the state capital. A commemoration building was prepared in 10 years and still holds the Governor's office.
