Fantastic Things to Do with Your Children at Cheekwood Botanical Garden

This garden has been opened to the public as a botanical and art museum since early 60s. This was originally a mansion house and property owned by the Cheek Family. This garden is dedicated to promoting botanical collections, its unique landscape, existing buildings, and art.

The Garden has also been supported by the Nashville Art Museum which donated its permanent art collections to the Cheekwood Garden to develop it further. This place is ideal for getting your kids interested in nature and art simultaneously. Admission rates are $15, $12 and $8 for adults, seniors above 65 and kids below 17. There is a flat out $7.5 discount for military personnel. General admission hours are from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm every day. Cheekwood Botanical is closed on Monday each week.

There are plenty of studio classes and workshops that happen. Some of the classes scheduled till December this year are Jewelry Making, Clay Work, Oil Painting, Working with Acrylics and mixed media, and Watercolor painting techniques. In case you want to attend any workshops related to photograph preservations, paintings or a silk scarf workshop then you should book now. There is also a glass fusing class scheduled in the month of December over the weekend.

There are close to eleven different gardens you can explore for a wide variety of plant species. You can go to the Carell Dogwood Garden that has a lot of selections of Cornus species. There is also a wonderful Backpack Adventure planned and designed especially for children. There are a lot of fun activities interspersed such as the color garden, patterns in the Japanese gardens, and the Cheekwood Nashville card game.
