The Nashborough Fort at Nashville in Tennessee

Prior to the year 1779 the region that is now recognized as Nashville was actually an indeterminate stretch of land that had not been claimed by any people and had not been developed. In the month of December in the year 1779, on the eve of Christmas day as the records show, groups of people came to the region by boat, on the Cumberland River, and began to make settlements in the area.

The settlements subsequently came to be recognized as the Fort Nashborough region and further on in the future, the region was termed as Nashville. The new and current building of the Nashborough fort has been made to resemble the original building in a plethora of features in an attempt to recreate the original settings in which the pioneers of the frontier movement in the 1700's settled down. A guided tour through the establishment with a duration of twenty minutes is offered to the visitors.
