Belle Meade Plantation

All Nashville travel guides recommend visiting the Belle Meade Plantation while traveling in Nashville, Tennessee. The Belle Meade Plantation is located on Harding Road on the Leake Avenue and serves as a tourist spot, owing to the museum that is maintained on the grounds of the plantation.

The historic Belle Meade Plantation has been the setting for a number of events through American history, especially during the Civil War when the front yard of the plantation served as a battleground of sorts in the Battle of Nashville, between the Confederate forces and those of the Union.

The stone columns supporting the structure of the mansion were hit by a number of bullets going astray and marks from the same can be observed even today if one is to travel to Nashville and visit the plantation.

The Belle Meade Plantation was established in the year 1853. On 30th December, 1969, the Belle Meade Plantation was added to the United States National Register of Historic Places. At present, the Plantation is owned and governed by The Association for the Preservation of Tennessee's Antiquities.
